What is Graduations Series?

 

The Grad Series in NOT part of the regular season.   The Post Season Grad Series gives regular season "older" U8 players the opportunity to participate in a program designed to be a transition between U8 and U10. Graduation teams play on a U10 size field with more advanced rules including offside penalty.

 

What is the game format?

 

Each team will consist of up to 10 players, 7v7, size 4 ball, everybody plays, balanced teams, 25 mins halves, game score is reported and standings are kept.  Teams will be seeded in a final tournament based upon their win/loss record and total sportsmanship points


What are sportsmanship and ref points?


Each team will accumulate points for wins, losses, ties and forfeits.  In addition points are awarded for sportsmanship and fulfilling the Ref requirement.  Points are tracked on the Games Cards and affect each teams standings.

When is the season?

 

Teams will be formed in December and games will be held in January through the end of February.   The final tournament will be a 2 day elimination soccer tournament with a championship game.

 

What is the fee?

 

The Graduation Series is not part of the regular season program and is a self supporting post season program.  Therefore, the fee will cover uniforms, field permits and other costs.  The cost is determined by each Region.  Region 40 will charge $40.00 per player and the fee is due no later than December 10th.  Please bring the fee to the player evaluation session in order to participate.

 

What are the Reffering-Volunteer Requirements?

 

Each team will be required to supply its own certified referees for each game.   Home team is REQUIRED to provide Center Ref for the FOLLOWING GAME plus one (1) AR for their game.  Visitors are REQUIRED to provide one (1) AR for thier game.   Each team will receive up to 3 ref points for fullfilling its requirements.


What are the Parent-Volunteer Requirements?


Each team should have a Team Managers to assist the Head Coach with announcements, volunteer assignments and uniform distribution etc.   Team banners, team snacks and a team party are optional. No picture day and no team sponsorship are required.

 

Where are the fields and who do we play?

 

Region 40 sponsors the Graduation series and is responsible for organizing the season.  Games will be played in Alhambra, San Gabriel, and El Monte.  Schedules will be posted on the Region 40 Web site (www.ayso40.org); and teams will participate from Region 60 Region 908 Region 98.   The other regions are guests and greatly enhance the level of competition and fun.

****REMINDERS***

1) Rain Policy - SHOW UP TO FIELD.  The determination to play or not should be made at the field by both coaches and the Head Ref.   San Gabriel and Rosemead fields do NOT close for rain.  Therefore, if the condition are safe at game time, the game should be played!

2) Game Must END on Time / Mandatory End Times:   The time slot for each game is 1 hr and 15 mins.  Games should require 55 mins total (25 running halves plus 5 min break).    That gives each game a 20 min cushion.  If a game runs behind schedule, the Ref should END the game at the end of the time slot regardless of the game clock.

3) Player ID Cards:   ID's will be required by the Playoffs.  Please have your ID cards completed by the 3rd week.

4) Ref - No Shows:   The Home team should provide a Center Ref and play the game.  No-Show team will receive loss of Ref points. 

5) Game Cards:  Template can be downloaded from R40 Web Site.  Game cards should be marked CLEARLY.   Coaches (not REFS) should turn in game cards.   Report scores by 5pm on Monday to coachjimwagner40@aol.com

6) Home and Away Teams:   To start the game - Home team picks which side of field to defend; Away will kickoff.   Home team has North or West side of field; Away team has South or East side of field.   Home team to provide 2 game balls; Away team to provide one game ball
